The Kawasaki Versys was first introduced in Europe and Canada, and was brought to the United States in 2007. The Versys has versatility written all over it. It is intended to provide a mid-stream, well priced ride that would satisfy new riders, or those riders who wanted to move up, and even those also who are looking for a smaller sporting motorcycle.
The name Versys, comes from a combination between “versatility” and “system”. Kawasaki created various elements of different motorcycles to create a very impressive and unique street bike in the Versys.
The Versys has the same 649cc, liquid-cooled, vertical twin engine as what’s on the 650R, but it is re-tuned to give more low-end torque than the 650R, which is perfect for great handling in city traffic.
The Showa rear shock provides softness and firm compression damping and it is adjustable for preload and rebound damping. The low slung muffler is modern and stylish and the fairing on the Versys is very distinctive. The windscreen is adjustable to find the level of wind protection you desire. The striking red color tells you that this bike was made to be noticed and that it’s fast and aggressive.
The two part seat on the Versys provides you with an upright riding position that will keep you comfortable on long hauls or for those commutes through the city.

The engine is a 4 stroke parallel twin, liquid-cooled 650cc. It provides a great deal of power to allow this nimble bike to navigate through rush hour traffic effortlessly and efficiently. The Versys was created for pavement riding on both city and back roads. The fuel injection system was mapped so the mid-range from 3000 to 6000 revs would get a strong response from the throttle.
The Versys is rider-friendly in every way. The simple instruments consists of a big, white faced analog tachometer in the center with an LCD display on the right for speed, fuel and clock, as well as the odometer and trip meters.
