The engine is a four cylinder, DOHC 998cc powerhouse that is very compact and narrow. The cylinder head has intake ports, exhaust ports and combustion chambers that are designed for optimum flow efficiency and killer power. The lift profiles of the cam lobes give more power at high rpm and makes the engine easily tuned for racing. The secondary fuel injectors improve the overall power and the cross-sectioned throttle bodies give more accurate throttle control and response.
The titanium silencer lowers the center of gravity on the ZX-10R and provides great exhaust efficiency. The six speed transmission features an adjustable back torque limiting clutch and the gear ratios meet the power characteristics for perfect delivery of power.
Ergonomics come into play in a big way on the ZX10R. The tank, seat and rear frame provide you with accurate assessment of the road surface and the flared fuel tank top allow you to rest your arm on the tank when leaning into a turn.
