Types of Motorcycles Today: Street, Off-Road, Dual-Sport
In this day and age with all the different types of technology and a wide, diverse market of people who want and need all sorts of varying things, the motorcycle industry is no exception. There are dozens of types of motorcycles with varying attributes. This article will go over several of these and hopefully it will help you to choose the right motorcycle for you.
Street Motorcycles
A street motorcycle is exactly what it sounds like. With a street motorcycle, it will be possible for you to cruise the city streets, from city limit to city limit. You will be able to go anywhere you can in a small car but with the extra quality of feeling that free air on your back, blowing your shirt around, and just knowing that you can go anywhere you want. A street bike will be the best choice if you’re also wanting to ride down long open highways and see the country the way biker gangs do all the time. If you’re looking to be free while staying on the roads, a street motorcycle is the choice for you.
Off-Road Motorcycles
An off-road motorcycle will allow you to do things that a normal street bike won’t. For instance, if you want to take your bike mudding, ride through the forest, or drive down the beachside with nothing but a leather jacket and the one dollar bills in your pocket, an off-road motorcycle is for you. Keep in mind, however, that if you’re going to be riding off road, you’ll want to take extra precautions in order to stay safe. Take a few bucks with you and keep your cell phone on you the whole time in case you get your bike stuck in the mud somewhere and you need to call a tow truck or even your wife. Yeah, I know it’s humiliating to find yourself in this sort of situation but it’s going to be even more humiliating if you weren’t even prepared for something like that.
Dual-Sport Motorcycles
If you want to ride both on country roads and down ravaged hillsides, a dual-sport motorcycle is the bike for you. This type of motorcycle will allow you to do pretty much anything you want when it comes to riding. It’s light, it’s sturdy, and you won’t find yourself wishing you had a better equipped bike when you decide to ride your bike through some dirt patches or feel the urge to jump over a few cars (not suggested, by the way). Personally, I think the dual-sport is the best choice as this will allow you to both ride smoothly on black-top and sturdy on grass.
No matter what you decide to go with, play it safe and always be prepared for the worst. After all, “Free of all worries” doesn’t mean “free of all sense”.
